2020 Summer School
In order to make this opportunity available for our students, we must all be willing to follow the following safety guidelines and protocols to keep the school as safe and Covid free as possible. All students and staff MUST follow the below guidelines in order to make this the most healthy and productive summer school session as possible.
- All students and instructors MUST wear a mask while inside the building.
- All students and instructors should try to keep the six feet social distancing protocol established by the state of Michigan. Obviously when asking the instructor questions, this will not be possible, but that’s when mask wearing is even more important.
- If any students or instructors are experiencing illness, especially those symptoms associated with Covid-19 (Fever or chills, Cough, Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, Fatigue, Muscle or body aches, Headache, New loss of taste or smell, Sore throat, Congestion or runny nose, Nausea or vomiting, or Diarrhea) They should self quarantine for the recommended 14 days.
Students would be expected to contact the instructor and let them know of their illness and would be expected to complete work.
The following is how summer school/credit recovery will be run:
DATES: July 6th-August 14th or until coursework is completed.
HOW TO SIGN UP: Registration will begin Monday, June 29 and can be done by calling Mr. Scott at the high school office (353-6661) or emailing him at firstname.lastname@example.org. Payment is required before classes begin or arrangements for payment are set up. The sooner students can be registered who ld be appreciated so classes and course work can be ready when summer school starts.
LOCATION: School Library
TIMES: 8 AM-12 PM
Cost: $50 per student
Lunch WILL NOT be provided for students this summer.
Mondays & Wednesdays (Middle School Credit Recovery) 8AM-12 PM
Students ARE required to be in attendance on ALL Mondays & Wednesdays until the instructor tells them that they have completed their work and no longer need to attend. Anytime a student is unable to attend, they MUST contact the instructor PRIOR to the class meeting. This can be done with an email or a phone call to the High School Office 353-6661.
This will be a credit recovery model, where students will be able to complete work, projects, and or tests/quizzes that they did not complete and/or that was completed but not to a passing grade (D- 60%) in the 1st or 2nd semester and complete or redo it until they have a C grade (75%). This will then be figured back into the grade to see if they have passed the class and recouped the credit.
On the above listed days and times, students will meet in the library with the instructor and work on their missing/failing assignments, quizzes, and or tests. When the student has all of their failing/non-passing grades up to a C or 75%, they could be considered done and not have to attend summer school anymore.
Tuesdays & Thursdays (High School Odysseyware) 8 AM-12 PM
Students ARE required to be in attendance on ALL Tuesdays & Thursdays until the instructor tells them that they have completed their work and no longer need to attend. Anytime a student is unable to attend, they MUST contact the instructor PRIOR to the class meeting. This can be done with an email or a phone call to the High School Office 353-6661.
The students will be assigned courses on Odysseyware that they did not pass during the school year. They will be allowed to work on coursework at home on Mondays & Wednesdays and then can come in on Tuesdays & Thursdays to continue to work on their assignments and then take tests and quizzes that are required to pass the course.
If students do not have a computer at home, one can be checked out from the school.
