At the annual Baraga County Chamber of Commerce Mix & Mingle on April 11, 2025, a successful turnout of 65 guests helped raise approximately $1,300 for the scholarship fund. Thanks to the generosity of attendees, local sponsors, and donors from this and previous events, the Chamber awarded three scholarships this year—including one to Isaiah Mervar, a non-traditional student currently attending Baraga Area Community Schools (BACS).
Isaiah received a $750 scholarship in recognition of his hard work, early GED completion, and future plans to serve in the military. By graduating early, Isaiah was able to enter the workforce ahead of schedule and is now preparing for his next steps.
The Chamber expressed gratitude to the many local businesses and sponsors that made the event possible. Their contributions ensure continued support for students like Isaiah, helping pave the way for bright futures in our community.
