On May 15th, heavy flooding in L’Anse led to over five inches of water in the basement at Baraga Area Community Schools, forcing the building to close for the day. The water caused damage throughout the lower level.
On June 10th, a group of volunteers made up of community members, Baraga Schools staff, and students came together to help clean up. They filled a 40-yard dumpster with damaged items from the basement and around the building.
We’re very thankful for everyone who showed up to lend a hand—it made a big difference.
