Attention:
There will be multiple ways to digitally access the BHS graduation ceremony tonight. Here is the NFHS camera feed:
https://www.nfhsnetwork.com/events/baraga-area-high-school-baraga-mi/evtc4131d6f5f
We also will try to live stream the ceremony on Youtube. Due to our Youtube channel having few subscribers, it is more difficult to run a live stream. You will need the Youtube link to access the live stream. That link will be posted later today.
For easier streaming of events in the future (such as graduation, concerts, etc.), we need more subscribers to our channel. Feel free to subscribe to the BHS Youtube media channel to make this happen!

TITLE VI PUBLIC HEARING

Due to winter weather conditions, Baraga Area Schools will be closed on Monday, 3/25/24.

Baraga Area Schools was well represented at the Copper Country Association of School Board Award Night. High School Senior Ellie Delene received the Student Leadership Award. Kristiina Vanhala received the School service award. Stefanie Holley received the Outstanding Education Employee Award. These three recipients were represented by Baraga School Board Members: Megan Haataja and JoAnne Danielson and Mrs. Lori Wisniewski, Superintendent. Ellie Delene is the Student Council president and an officer of the National Honor Society. She is involved with Cross Country, Track, and Figure Skating and helps with fundraising efforts as some sports are family-sponsored instead of school-sponsored. She is a very responsible individual and works to make Baraga Area Schools a welcoming educational environment for everyone. Stefanie Holley is an amazing team player and is willing to help with anything that needs to be done. She has served the district as an at-risk aide, maintenance worker, recess monitor, and facilities manager. Stefanie brings positive energy to everything she does and has helped make our building beautiful and uplifting. Kristiina Vanhala was an elementary school teacher in Baraga for over 30 years. After retirement, Kristiina has stayed involved in our district. She cares immensely about our students and regularly attends their extracurricular events and checks in on their progress when she’s in the building. She has been a regular substitute teacher that both the teachers and students enjoy having in their classroom. Kristiina has high expectations and the students work to meet them. Congratulations and thank you for all you do for our school, students, and our community.

Kyler Wilson and Dawson Holm, Baraga 5th graders, competed in the Western UP Science Fair/ Invention Convention at MTU on Saturday, March 16th. The two scored a silver ribbon for their swimming fishing lure, "The Wiggly Willy." The avid fishermen designed a lure that will swim in two directions in the water.
They did well enough to be invited down to the State Invention Convention at the Henry Ford Museum on May 4th.
The boys have been working hard on their invention and they have plans to make improvements before heading downstate to the state convention. Good Luck boys and way to represent Baraga Schools.

Come on out and watch the 2nd annual March Madness Adult Basketball Tournament. This is a fundraiser for the class of 2028. There are also fundraisers benefiting the booster club & cross country team. Please help spread the word! We would love to see our community there supporting the students and players.
