Baraga Families, Due to construction in the building we were unable to have a traditional open house but we "DONUT" want you to miss the TK-5 Meet and Greet. Parents and Guardians are welcome to stop by the library for donuts and coffee from 8am-9am on September 7, 2021. After getting your refreshments, you are welcome to walk your child down to their classroom to meet their teacher. There will also be a middle school meet and greet near the high school office from 8am-830am. Middle school teachers will be available for parents and guardians during that time. Sixth grade students will have an orientation station from 9am-930am where they will have a chance to find their classrooms and get basic information. The middle/high school will then follow different stations throughout the morning that highlight school wide behavior expectations. A locker sign is available online (link below). Parents/Guardians of new students will be welcome to walk their student(s) into the building to help make the first day of school a success. Baraga Area Schools is excited to announce the new K-12 principal at Baraga Schools, Lori Wisniewski. Lori has been a teacher at Baraga Schools since 2013 and we are excited to have her step into the principal role. We are looking forward to a positive school year for 2021, and beyond. Go Vikings!

FALL SPORTS REMINDER: —HS Football starts Aug 9 —HS Volleyball & CC start Aug 11 —JR High GBB & Football start date are August 23. Every student that participates will need a physical BEFORE they can start practice - so please schedule your physical now if you haven’t already done so. They also need five different permission forms before they can start as well. All forms can be found on our “Baraga Athletics” website (under documents and then under yearly forms for athletes). You can also pick up hardcopies of these forms in the high school office with Tracy - however the office has limited hours during the summer so please call to make sure someone is there. Summer Meet Up to Eat Up is being offered at Baraga Area Schools. Meals for one week will be distributed on Thursday's between the hours of 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. This will begin on June 24th and ends on August 19th. Please fill out the form by Monday, June 21st. This project was a little more intense than I had initially anticipated so, thank you for being so kind and patient during this process. Did you know this ditch by the school leads to Keweenaw Bay? Did you know the city of Baraga gets their drinking water from Keweenaw Bay? The 8th graders do. Earlier this winter they planned a project that could help protect their drinking water resource. Today they put that plan into place and spent their class time cleaning up waste that had the potential to contaminate their drinking water. Way to go Vikings!

Please see the attached schedule for the 6-12 exams and the half day schedule for the elementary school June 7-9th (note June 7-9 are half days for TK-12). Other exam information: There will be an 18-minute break between exams. The kitchen staff will have snacks and juices/water available for students to purchase during the break. Lunch will be available after the bell rings, at 11:55, on half days for the junior/senior high students.
