eSports SAYKKLY’S EGG ORDERS CANCELED
The Saykkly’s egg fundraiser order has been canceled. We are trying to do the best and safest thing for our students and families. As a group it is not safe for us to write the names or deliver the eggs home to home as it’s non essential travel. If you sold or ordered any Saykkly’s eggs/candies you will be contacted the week of April 14th about whether you want to get a refund or donate to the program. If you sold eggs please get this message out to anyone who ordered from you before Easter. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this causes. We appreciate all who sold and purchased candies to support our eSports team. If you have further questions please contact Mr. Davidson or Mrs. Klein via email.

UPDATE: APRIL 2, 2020
Governor Whitmer has announced today that all Michigan K-12 schools will be closed for the remainder of the year. We know this will cause additional stress on an already stressful situation but our Governor feels this is the best direction to keep families and the community safe. It was announced that all seniors will graduate and all students showing adequate progress prior to the closure will move onto the next grade. State testing has been canceled for the 2019-2020 school year. We will continue supplemental learning for the remainder of the year. All of these resources and updates can be found on our website or app but our staff is still in the development stages of the learning plans for the school and more information will be made available as things are finalized. Please bear with us as we sort through this ever changing information and be assured that we realize there are multiple barriers to this type of learning and we are working hard to meet the various needs of our students.

This week the art challenge is to make an animal using any art supplies you have at home. In this video there is a tutorial on making texture with household objects and a time lapse of my painting. You can win my painting along with a snack. We may have to vote online so please send me a picture of your finished art challenges via Baraga Area Schools Art Facebook messenger, @baragavikingsart Instagram or my email vklein@baragaschools.org. You WILL get extra credit or a Vikes card for participating WHENEVER we get back.

The “Stay Home, Stay Safe” executive order that went into place this morning means that school will be closed for at least three more weeks starting today, March 24th. As of right now we are continuing to provide meal pick-up. Information on how you can participate in the food program can be found in our news article or on our Instagram and Facebook pages. We will continue to keep you informed on what is happening but this is uncharted territory for us all and because things are changing at such a fast pace we currently have more questions than answers. We are awaiting further guidance from the state on many things, such as online learning. For right now, teachers are sharing resources and lessons with students on various platforms of their choosing. We are working on getting a resource together that gives parents and guardians all of this information in one place. Please be on the lookout for something on our webpage. We appreciate your patience as we continue to sort through the details of this ever-changing event. Stay home, stay healthy. We are Viking Strong and will get through this together.

There is a new Google Form to fill out to receive food for the week of April 6th-April13th. Please see our news article for more information. These should be pinned to the top of both our website (under "News") and Facebook page.

In effect tonight, Govenor Whitmer has ordered all non-critical businesses to temporarily close. This order will be in place for the next three weeks and will hopefully decrease the spread of the coronavirus. Grocery stores, gas stations, and banks are among the businesses that will be staying open. Details can be found here. We will continue serving grab-and-go food unless we get different instructions from the state. Stay home. Stay healthy.
